Ukraine's Foreign Ministry Revokes Iranian Ambassador's Accreditation
Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revoked the accreditation of the Iranian ambassador and significantly reduced the diplomatic staff of the embassy due to the use of Iranian-produced weapons by Russian troops.
“In execution of the President of Ukraine's instruction to take immediate measures in response to the facts of the use of Iranian-produced weapons by Russian troops on Ukrainian territory, on September 23, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ukraine was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine,” the ministry stated.
The Iranian side was told that supplying Iranian weapons to Russia for further use against Ukrainian civilians and Defense Forces directly contradicts the publicly declared position of Iran's supreme leadership regarding neutrality and respect for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Supplying weapons to Russia to wage war against Ukraine is an unfriendly act that seriously damages the relations between Ukraine and Iran,” the statement read.
