In Case of Positive Referendum Outcomes, Parliament and Putin's Actions Will Follow: Peskov
Following the referendums in Donbas, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions, actions will follow from both the parliament and President Vladimir Putin of Russia in case of a positive decision. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, to journalists.
“Undoubtedly, decisions will be required from both our parliament and the president, the signing of necessary documents, and a series of procedures. Everything will be done in accordance with existing legislation. I am almost certain that the recognition process will be quite swift,” said Peskov.
Referendums regarding joining Russia have begun in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. Voting will continue for five days until September 27.
Russia initiated military operations in Ukraine on February 24. President Vladimir Putin has described it as an operation aimed at protecting people, as the population has been subjected to mockery and genocide by the Kyiv regime. He stated that the plan includes the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, and bringing to justice all military criminals responsible for the bloody crimes against the peaceful residents of Donbas. According to the Russian military department, the main objective is the liberation of Donbas.
In response, Western countries have imposed broad sanctions against Russia.
