Peskov Refuses to Comment on His Son's Decision Not to Attend Military Commissariat
The press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, has refrained from commenting on his son Nikolai's stance of not attending the military commissariat following the announcement of partial mobilization in the country. This was reported by TASS.
The Kremlin's official representative noted that he is aware of a conversation between his son and Dmitry Nizovtsev, an associate of imprisoned Alexei Navalny, who presented himself as an employee of the military commissariat. However, he stated that he had not viewed the published segment in which Nikolai Peskov allegedly refused to visit the military commissariat, asserting that he was ready to resolve the issue “at another level.”
Peskov also drew attention to the fact that “these citizens have never provided the full text of the conversation” and declined to make any comments. “No, I do not want to. This concerns my son, and therefore I am not obliged to,” Peskov said.
On September 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilization in Russia. According to Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, plans are in place to conscript 300,000 individuals. In turn, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin noted that the partial mobilization would not affect 99% of the mobilization resources; only those who have served and have the required military registration specialties will be drafted. He also emphasized that lawmakers would not have exemptions, and all parliamentarians who meet the partial mobilization requirements “should contribute by participating in the special military operation.”
