Iran's Ties with Armenia Must Not Be Jeopardized, Raeisi
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raeisi, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The Prime Minister elaborated on Azerbaijan's large-scale aggression against the territorial integrity of Armenia and its consequences, emphasizing the importance of an adequate response from the international community, including Iran, to condemn Azerbaijani actions and to facilitate the withdrawal of Azerbaijani forces from Armenia's sovereign territory.
Nikol Pashinyan expressed satisfaction with the clear evaluations provided by the Iranian side and highlighted the necessity of close cooperation between the two countries in the current situation.
Ebrahim Raeisi noted that Iran is closely monitoring the developments and added that all issues in the region should be resolved exclusively through peaceful means. According to the Iranian President, Iran's position regarding the inviolability of states' territorial integrity and the inadmissibility of altering borders in the region is clear, and the connection between Iran and Armenia must not be jeopardized.
Raeisi emphasized that his country is ready to support the establishment of peace in the region, adding that the issue of Armenia's security is important for Iran.
The interlocutors exchanged views on further development and expansion of cooperation between the two states in various fields. Other mutually interesting issues were also discussed.
