"He is certainly a son of a dog, but he is ours": Lavrov characterizes Western policy towards Zelensky
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated at a UN Security Council meeting on the Ukraine issue that Western countries are becoming a party to the conflict in Ukraine. As reported by Kp.ru, he said, "Those who are sending weapons to Kyiv are interested in continuing the conflict and in weakening Russia."
Additionally, the diplomat addressed the West's support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying, "The West builds its policy towards Zelensky on the principle of 'he is certainly a son of a dog, but he is ours.'"
The media outlet clarifies that the expression quoted by the Russian minister is attributed to U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt, who used it in reference to Nicaraguan military and political figure Anastasio Somoza Garcia, who was backed politically by the U.S. for his anti-communist views.
