Emergency Situations Ministry Provides Details on Surmalu Partial Collapse
On September 21, at 17:45, the National Crisis Management Center received a report that a damaged building at the Surmalu shopping center in Yerevan had partially collapsed.
A firefighting unit from the Yerevan Rescue Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, along with two groups from the Special Rescue Operations Center of the Rescue Forces Department and a psychologist from the Psychological Support Division, were dispatched to the scene.
It was discovered that the wall of the half-constructed building had collapsed (around 40 square meters); there were casualties and a damaged vehicle.
Before the rescuers arrived at the scene, three individuals (K. H., born in 1989, T. M., born in 1996, and E. whose details could not be determined) were transported to the Erebuni Medical Center, where K. H. and T. M. were discharged after receiving appropriate medical care, while E.'s health condition was assessed as satisfactory by doctors.
The rescuers secured the area. The collapse resulted in damage to a Mercedes-Benz E200 vehicle.
Present at the scene were Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations D. Hambaryan, Director of the Rescue Service Colonel A. Gasparyan, Deputy Directors of the Rescue Service Colonels H. Yemishyan, T. Petrosyan, K. Manukyan, and other officials.
