The Use of Brutal Force Against Grieving Parents is a Disgrace: MP
The incident that occurred in Yerablur is shameful and unacceptable. The use of brutal force to detain grieving parents in order to protect Nikol Pashinyan from the relatives of the fallen is a disgrace. This statement was made by the Chair of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs of the National Assembly, independent MP Taguhi Tovmasyan.
She emphasized, “Regardless of everything, we must respect the grief of the parents of heroes who died for the homeland, as well as their actions, no matter how unpleasant they may be for the authorities. Perhaps the parents of the defenders of the homeland choose to express their frustration in different ways; nevertheless, we are obliged to respect them, honor them, and bow to them permanently.”
Tovmasyan continued, “It is unacceptable to divide the parents into ‘ours’ and ‘yours.’ The authorities apparently operate under the following logic: those parents who accept Anna Hakobyan's invitation and participate in events are good, while those who express claims, anger, and frustration, are detained, thus undermining their dignity.”
“Nikol Pashinyan, who gave the orders, and the head of the Police of Armenia, Vahe Ghazaryan, must apologize to the grieving parents,” she concluded.
