Belgium's Prime Minister Urges EU Countries Not to Add Fuel to the Fire After Putin's Speech
Following Russian President Vladimir Putin's speech, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo has urged EU countries to maintain calm and not to add fuel to the fire, TASS reports.
“We need to respond calmly; there is no need to add fuel to the fire, we should not provoke,” De Croo stated. At the same time, he emphasized the necessity of maintaining a position on the Ukraine issue and continuing support for it.
He noted that Belgium has already provided €55 million in aid to Ukraine and will continue to do so.
It is important to recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on partial mobilization. “To protect Russia, its sovereignty and integrity, I consider it necessary to support the proposal for partial mobilization. Only citizens in reserve will be subject to conscription, and they will undergo additional training based on the experience of the special operation. Mobilization efforts will begin today,” said the Russian president.
According to him, mobilized individuals participating in the special military operation will receive remuneration and the status of a military contractual serviceman.
“The West has crossed all boundaries; irresponsible politicians talk about supplying offensive weapons to Ukraine and military strikes against Russia. Western countries are pushing Kyiv to move military operations into Russian territory,” Putin added.
It is worth noting that Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since February 24.
