Soldier Armen Mikaelyan Killed by Drone Strike While Removing Weapon from Vehicle

Due to Azerbaijani aggression, 36-year-old contract serviceman Armen Mikaelyan has died in the direction of Jermuk. Armen Mikaelyan lived in the village of Khachpar. Shahen Martirosyan, the former mayor of Khachpar, told News.am that Armen was married and had three minor children: two sons and a daughter.

Armen Mikaelyan was serving in Jermuk and it was his third year in the army. “Before the fighting started, he called and spoke with his family, saying that everything was fine. He was killed by a drone strike while removing his weapon from the vehicle,” the former mayor said.

It should be noted that on September 13, starting from 00:05, Azerbaijani Armed Forces’ units began intensive shelling of Armenian positions along the entire border using artillery and large-caliber firearms, as well as drones. The adversary targeted both military and civilian objects.

According to the Ministry of Defense, by September 14 at 20:00, the firing had almost ceased in all directions and significant incidents had not been recorded. As of September 16 at 09:00, there had been no changes in the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

As of September 16, the Armenian side has confirmed 135 casualties. On September 14, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that by that time, the Azerbaijanis had occupied 10 square kilometers of Armenia.
