Moscow Welcomes the Idea of Turkey-Syria Negotiations

Moscow supports the idea of organizing a meeting between the foreign ministers of Turkey and Syria and is ready to provide a platform if necessary, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov told RIA Novosti.

“Of course, we believe that the meeting would be beneficial. This is about establishing communication, currently in terms of military and special services. There have been such communications. We support them, we encourage them to meet and find common ground in their positions,” said Bogdanov in response to a relevant question.

He emphasized that Moscow “advocates for the normalization of interstate relations between Ankara and Damascus, as is happening with other countries in the region.”

“If they wish, we are always ready to host them, of course. We have organized meetings at various levels and formats. We are always ready to provide our assistance,” the deputy minister added.
