Government Postpones Independence Day Event

The government of the Republic of Armenia has postponed the award ceremony titled "Hero of Our Times," which was set to take place on September 21, in honor of Independence Day. This was announced to an Armenpress correspondent by Armen Khachatryan, the head of the government’s Information and Public Relations Department.

According to him, the postponement is due to Azerbaijan's large-scale aggression against Armenia. Starting from September 13 at 00:05, Azerbaijani military units began intense shelling of Armenian positions in the directions of Goris, Sotk, and Jermuk using artillery and large-caliber firearms. The adversary also employed drones. Later on, Azerbaijan used artillery in other directions as well.

As a result of the large-scale aggression by Azerbaijan's armed forces on the night of September 12-13, 2022, the number of casualties and missing persons has reached 207.

Armen Grigoryan, the Secretary of Armenia's Security Council, announced on September 14 that a ceasefire agreement had been reached thanks to the involvement of the international community.
