Azerbaijan Preparing for New Attack, Expanding Geography Including from Nakhchivan: Hakob Arshakyan
Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Hakob Arshakyan, met with Japan's ambassador to Armenia, Masanori Fukushima, on September 19. The meeting was attended by members of the Armenia-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group, including Tsovinar Vardanyan, Heriknaz Tigranyan, and Lusine Badalyan.
Hakob Arshakyan welcomed the ambassador and congratulated him on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Japan. “Armenia and Japan have managed to develop close friendly relations, high-level political dialogue, and cooperation based on common values. We are confident that the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations will further strengthen our bilateral ties in political, cultural, and other fields,” said Arshakyan.
The Deputy Speaker provided the ambassador with details regarding the offensive actions undertaken by the Azerbaijani armed forces on September 13. He added that there is reliable evidence that Azerbaijan is preparing for a new attack, expanding its geography, including from the Nakhchivan region, thereby infringing upon Armenia's territorial integrity.
Arshakyan also expressed concern regarding the Nanmadol typhoon, which has led to the evacuation of around four million people, hoping that the situation would be resolved soon.
The Japanese ambassador thanked him for the reception and the detailed information provided. He informed that he would relay the information presented by the vice speaker regarding the situation in Armenia and Artsakh to the Japanese government.
Masanori Fukushima noted that Japan and Armenia have warm partner relations, but there is significant untapped potential for cooperation, requiring concrete steps to be taken. He emphasized that it is time to activate cooperation in political, economic, educational, cultural, and other sectors. Strengthening Armenian-Japanese cultural and scientific ties was also highlighted by both parties.
Several agreements have been reached regarding Deputy Speaker Hakob Arshakyan’s upcoming visit to Japan.
