Azerbaijan is Nervous: International Expert
International expert Suren Sargsyan, commenting on the visit of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Armenia, noted on the "Eritasard" media platform that Azerbaijan is nervous about the statements made, as there is clear support for Armenians.
"The U.S. supports Azerbaijan to serve its own interests, and if it provides military assistance, it is for the purpose of protecting the border with Iran — specifically, the maritime border of Azerbaijan and Iran. In other words, the assistance provided to Azerbaijan is not directed against us, but rather against Iran. No state does anything good for another state without having an interest in it. This should be understood, especially when it comes to great powers. Our region has been a stage for the competition of great powers since the 1990s; the U.S. strategy has been to counterbalance Russia, and conversely, Russia's interest is to counterbalance the U.S.," he stated.
