Shoigu Holds Phone Conversation with Chief of Azerbaijani Armed Forces General Staff
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu had a phone conversation with the Chief of the General Staff of Azerbaijan, General Lieutenant Kerim Veliev. This information was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“Russian Defense Minister, Army General Sergey Shoigu has had a phone conversation with the Chief of the General Staff of the Republic of Azerbaijan, General-Lieutenant Kerim Veliev. Issues concerning the situation in the region were discussed,” the report states.
Earlier, it was reported that Shoigu also talked with Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, where the ministers discussed the ongoing situation in the region and the work being carried out by Russian peacekeepers in the Republic of Artsakh.
As a reminder, on September 13, starting at 00:05, Azerbaijani Armed Forces units began to intensively fire upon Armenian positions in the directions of Goris, Sotk, and Jermuk using artillery and large-caliber firearms. The enemy is also utilizing UAVs.
On September 14, Azerbaijani forces again shelled Jermuk and Verin Shorzha, while later hostilities resumed in the Ishkhanasar area of the Syunik province. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reported during a Q&A session in the parliament that as of September 14, the Armenian side had suffered 105 casualties.
