Artsakh Cannot and Should Not Be Part of Azerbaijan: President of Artsakh
President of the Republic of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, wrote on his Facebook page:
“Dear compatriots,
No circumstance can divert us from our chosen path—the international recognition of the independence of the Republic of Artsakh based on the priority and inalienable right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination. Artsakh cannot and should not be part of Azerbaijan, because, firstly, it is the people of Artsakh who decide their own fate in their homeland, and secondly, we do not have a people subject to genocide and displacement.
We have repeatedly stated and reaffirm now that all documents which could recognize Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan are unacceptable to us. On the other hand, we must all understand that in this difficult situation, our path of struggle is long and full of challenges, but I am confident that through national efforts we will eventually achieve our goals.”
