Russia's Foreign Ministry Issues Statement on Armenian-Azerbaijani Border Situation
The Russian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement regarding the aggression unleashed by Baku at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, reports RIA Novosti.
"We are extremely concerned and urge both parties to refrain from further escalation and to adhere to the ceasefire. We are in close contact with Baku and Yerevan. We expect that as a result of Russia's mediation, the agreement reached regarding the ceasefire at 9:00 Moscow time will be fully implemented. All disputed issues should be resolved exclusively through political and diplomatic means, and in regard to border issues, within the framework of the work of the Armenian-Azerbaijani demarcation bilateral commission with the advisory support of Russia,” said the statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Recall that starting from 00:05, Azerbaijani Armed Forces units have begun intensive fire towards Armenian positions in the directions of Goris, Sotk, and Jermuk, using artillery, large caliber firearms, and drones.
According to reports from the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, as of 8 AM, the situation at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border had not undergone significant changes. The adversary continues to use artillery, mortars, UAVs, and large caliber firearms targeting both military and civilian infrastructure in the directions of Vardenis, Sotk, Artanish, Ishkhanasar, Goris, and Kapan.
In some areas along the border, positional battles continue, and the adversary does not cease attempts to advance.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, while presenting the situation at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border to the National Assembly, stated that preliminary information suggests there are 49 casualties; however, this number is not final and the definitive figure will be provided following confirmation from the Ministry of Defense.
