Azerbaijani Attacks Originate from Areas Invaded and Illegally Occupied Since May 2021, Says Tatoyan

Azerbaijani attacks on peaceful settlements in Armenia also originate from areas that have been invaded, specifically the regions of Syunik and Gegharkunik, where forces have been illegally deployed since May 2021. This was stated by former Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, on his Facebook page.

“Azerbaijani attacks on peaceful settlements in Armenia stem from areas where they have invaded the sovereign territory of Armenia. This includes regions and roads in Syunik and Gegharkunik that have been invaded and illegally occupied since May 2021. For instance, the villages of Sotk, Norabak, and Kut in the Gegharkunik province are under targeted attack, from schools to the homes of peaceful residents.

In Syunik, peaceful settlements are being attacked, with gunfire occurring both along the Kapan-Jakaten road and near the villages, as well as from Azerbaijani positions that have invaded and illegally occupied the area around Lake Sev.

I have consistently stated that the mere presence of Azerbaijani military deployments near Armenian villages or along roads is criminal; it already poses a real threat to the lives and safety of our people, our settlements, and our country as a whole.

The attacks that began yesterday are a natural continuation of the hatred and enmity of the Azerbaijani authorities. I have proven enough that this will not cease, as it is a means for maintaining their own power in Azerbaijan.

Note: The images show the devastation in the village of Sotk in the Gegharkunik province,” he wrote.
