Azerbaijan Refuses Peace Negotiations Based on Our Proposed Principles: Pashinyan
During the latest meeting in Brussels, it became clear that Azerbaijan is refusing to conduct peace negotiations based on the principles proposed by Armenia. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during his speech in the National Assembly.
"Azerbaijan's position is as follows: they do not want to discuss the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia, as their stance is that the issue has been resolved or that it is an internal matter for them, and they do not wish to discuss it with Armenia. However, history does not end here. We have previously stated that the principles proposed by Azerbaijan, including mutual recognition of territorial integrity, are acceptable to us," said Pashinyan.
He clarified what they mean by territorial integrity. In other words, does Azerbaijan consider the territories that were occupied in May 2021 or during the first Nagorno-Karabakh war as part of Armenia's territorial integrity? According to Pashinyan, this question has not received a clear answer from Azerbaijan.
