Alen Simonian Calls on Opposition to Unite
The "Armenia" faction demands an open and public discussion regarding the situation at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. National Assembly President Alen Simonian, in turn, suggests unity and collaboration on the text of the statement.
"Armenia" faction secretary Artur Minasyan noted that their faction worked all night and also issued a statement. "Today, our faction is in the National Assembly. Seyran Ohanyan and I are here to propose that current agendas be set aside and to discuss the existing situation, as well as the actions we need to take as a country and as a state, and to hold a maximally open discussion without time constraints on the actions that led to this situation," he said.
He added that it would be very good if they could conduct fully open, public, and sincere discussions and outline everyone's responsibilities and options.
In response to Artur Minasyan, National Assembly President Alen Simonian stated that at this moment, it is necessary to be united and work together. "I also proposed that you cooperate on the text of the statement. You will have the opportunity for an open discussion. I urge you to ensure that your faction is also present in the hall, so that no unclear issues remain and the open discussion you mentioned can take place," said Simonian.
Alen Simonian also announced a 20-minute break. "During this break, review the statement; we will discuss it. Unfortunately, the law stipulates that only the Speaker of the National Assembly may present the text of the statement in this situation," Simonian noted. Thus, the NA President stated that the text of the statement would be presented, and the opposition would consider it and see what proposals may arise. A discussion would later take place in the NA hall, after which the Prime Minister would appear for a Q&A session.
Then addressing Seyran Ohanyan and Artur Minasyan, who were present in the hall, Simonian remarked, "Once again, I urge your colleagues to finally bring the rest to the chamber." He emphasized that neither the time nor the moment is suitable for political issues in this situation.
