What Proposal Does Erdogan Have for Putin? Media Reports
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is set to propose organizing a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during their upcoming meeting in Samarkand. This information was reported by Hurriyet.
“The key theme of the meeting between Putin and Erdogan will be the situation in Ukraine. Erdogan will convey a message to his Russian counterpart that Turkey will continue to exert all efforts through mediation initiatives to stop the war and achieve a stable ceasefire. President Erdogan, who will reiterate his proposal to Putin regarding a meeting of the leaders in Turkey, will emphasize the importance of a diplomatic solution. It is also expected that the agenda for the leaders' meeting will include discussions on potential military operations against Syria,” the newspaper reported.
It was also noted that one of the significant points of the upcoming meeting will be the launch of the “grain corridor.” “Following Putin's statement that ‘unfortunately, the grain is going to rich countries,’ Erdogan will request that Russian products be sent via ships coordinated by Turkey through the corridor,” the publication added.
