Video: A Memorial Ceremony for Queen Elizabeth II Takes Place at Edinburgh Cathedral
A farewell ceremony for Queen Elizabeth II is taking place in the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh, reports DailyMail.
Elizabeth II's coffin has been placed in St. Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh, where the traditional mourning ceremony for princes is held. King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward have arrived at the cathedral. A memorial ceremony, referred to as the vigil of princes, will occur in the cathedral.
On the coffin, which is draped with the Royal Banner of Scotland and adorned with a wreath, rests His Majesty's crown. This is one of the oldest British royal traditions, first established in 1540 for King James V.
Elizabeth II's coffin will remain at the Edinburgh cathedral for 24 hours, allowing all who wish to pay their final respects to the queen, after which it will be flown to London.
