Greek Prime Minister Responds to Erdogan's Threats

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has stated that Athens will attempt to keep communication channels open with Ankara, despite threats from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Recently, Erdogan remarked in the context of Turkish-Greek tension, “One night, we might suddenly come.” In response, Mitsotakis said, “No, Mr. Erdogan, you have no other empty rhetoric against Greece.” His words were met with a rousing applause from the crowd.

Following that, the Greek Prime Minister continued, “I consider such statements from the Turkish President unacceptable. But we will always try to keep the channels of communication open.” He also added that he is always ready to meet with Erdogan.

Mitsotakis highlighted that as parliament and presidential elections approach in Turkey, Erdogan increasingly makes nationalistic statements.
