Azerbaijan Plans Another Border Provocation, Marukyan Warns

Edmon Marukyan, Armenia's ambassador-at-large, has expressed concern that Azerbaijan is planning yet another border provocation. He made this statement on his Facebook page, analyzing the nearly daily false statements from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense over the past week regarding alleged gunfire by Armenian forces along various directions of the contact line.

"We all know that when Azerbaijan plans another border provocation, it creates a fake basis for informing the public to legitimize that provocation beforehand," Marukyan writes.

He asserts that all actors in the international community interested in the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process and the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must closely monitor the situation and clearly understand that Azerbaijan has once again started the preparatory process for a provocation.

"In this situation, a targeted international response could prevent this new provocation from taking place," emphasizes the special envoy.

Note that the latest misinformation was shared by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense this morning. Shortly after, the Armenian Ministry of Defense denied it. This process has been repeating almost identically over the past week—every day.
