The CP has launched a campaign in Sisian: "Hraparak"
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that the ruling Civil Contract Party (CP) believes in symbols. The campaign for the upcoming local elections in Sisian, scheduled for September 25, began on September 7 at 7 PM, with the 7th number appearing on the ballot. They hope that the coincidence of the number seven will lead to a successful campaign for them.
The first gathering was held in the Sisian Cultural Center auditorium, which was fairly well attended, although many were forced to be there. One staff member from the Sisian Medical Center told us that the director, Anik Grigoryan, who is the third candidate on the CP list, threatened that anyone who did not attend would lose their job and took attendance at the gathering. Staff from the local kindergarten were also present, along with their families, as they were instructed by the municipality to come.
It's worth noting that the CP candidate for Sisian is Armen Hakobjanyan, the acting mayor of Sisian, who is related to the CP MP Karen Hambardzumyan. Recently, the CP has sent a delegation from Yerevan to Sisian, represented by MPs Vahagn Aleksanyan and Sisak Gabrielyan, who are conducting vigorous counter-campaigning against strong rivals, particularly Ara Zakaryan, a candidate from the "Living Country" party, whose chances are currently rated highly in Syunik.
Aleksanyan stated, "The 'Living Country' party should have depicted a map of Panama and a pawned car on its election posters." This suggests a hint towards the "Panama Papers" associated with the party's founder Ruben Vardanyan and the activities of a credit organization owned by co-founder Mesrop Arakelyan. He also mocked the candidate from the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF), freedom fighter and painter Ashot Avagyan, saying, "In a city of a million like Yerevan, they can't manage to gather as many people for their rallies as have gathered in Sisian today."
