The 'Armenia' Faction Has Issued a Statement

The 'Armenia' faction has issued a statement, which we present below.

“Dear compatriots,

The year-long experience of parliamentary activity has shown that the executive power and its parliamentary majority, by violating the Constitution and laws, are disrupting the normal functioning of the National Assembly. Ignoring serious security threats, the current authorities are imposing on the National Assembly agendas that are indifferent to the immediate dangers facing Armenia and Artsakh.

Furthermore, the gross violations of the rules of procedure by the ruling party, the disregard for international standards in conducting meetings, and the blatant abuse of the powers of the majority delegitimize the operations of the parliament as a representative body with a primary mandate.

In this context, we will continue to use the tool of political boycott, accepted in international practice, against the illegally acting parliamentary majority, meaning we will not participate in the National Assembly and its committees’ meetings that are filled with non-priority and often artificial agendas.

As we have repeatedly stated, our participation in parliamentary sessions is contingent upon promoting agendas that have public support, namely – ensuring the security of Armenia and Artsakh, the resignation of the current authorities, and establishing a national-state path for the empowerment of the country.

In addition to the aforementioned, the mandate received from the people will be used by the faction to organize hearings on topics of genuine public interest and resonance, to expose the anti-national and anti-state initiatives of the current authorities, their inability to solve the social-economic issues of the country, the manifestations of corruption, the lawlessness of the judicial system, and violations of human rights and democracy.

The faction, through its representatives, will continue active communication and work with our partners abroad and the diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia, and assessing their utility and effectiveness, will participate in international meetings to protect our country's interests, to raise and condemn the crimes committed against the Armenian people.

As necessary, other parliamentary tools serving state and public agendas will also be employed.

At the same time, we will continue to actively operate outside the National Assembly to inform the broader public on the dangers threatening our country, to ensure direct participation in political processes, to give new momentum to the 'Resistance' movement, and to address internal and external security policy issues.

Dear compatriots,

We are convinced that a change of government is the essential minimum condition under which it is only possible to solve the problems facing our country, to overcome challenges, to close the chapter of defeat, and to emerge from this humiliated state. Armenia cannot present itself to the world with a face symbolizing defeat and disgrace. Only a new negotiator representing the interests of Armenia can ensure real and dignified peace and lead our country on the path of development.”
