Prevent Technogenic Disaster: Grossi Calls for Ceasefire at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant

The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has called for an immediate halt to the shelling of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) due to the crisis situation regarding the facility's power supply.

Earlier, the agency released a report following a visit to the site, also urging both sides to cease attacks in order to prevent a technogenic disaster.

“I call for an immediate cessation of shelling across the area. Only this will ensure the safety and protection of the personnel and guarantee the long-term electricity supply to Enerhodar and the plant,” said Grossi.

Grossi has reiterated his proposal to establish a security zone around the ZNPP, with the main goal of signing an agreement regarding the facility's inviolability. The agency's chief previously mentioned that he has been in contact with both sides, stating that a trilateral meeting will take place within a maximum of two weeks.
