North Korea Declares Itself a Nuclear State, Can Make Any Decision: Media
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has legally established itself as a nuclear state, with the country's leader Kim Jong-un having the authority to make any decision related to nuclear weapons, South Korean news agency Yonhap reported, citing North Korean state media. During the 14th Supreme People's Assembly session held on September 7, the DPRK adopted a decree titled 'Nuclear Weapons Policy,' according to a report from the Central News Agency (CNA).
The document includes 11 paragraphs, outlining provisions related to the purposes of nuclear weapons, the composition of nuclear forces, their command and control, the execution of decisions regarding nuclear weapons use, principles and conditions for their use, mobilization, safe usage and storage, defense, mass strengthening, and renewal, among others.
The third paragraph regarding 'Command and Control of Nuclear Weapons' states that the leader of the DPRK has the right to manage them and 'makes all decisions concerning nuclear weapons.'
