European Union to Impose Strict Restrictions on Russians

The European Union is set to impose strict restrictions on Russian citizens regarding tourist visas, as announced by the EU. They added that entry will be permitted for journalists and citizens traveling to the EU for family reasons.

Last week, during an informal meeting in Prague, EU foreign ministers agreed to suspend the visa facilitation agreement with Russia, making it more difficult, longer, and costlier to acquire these visas.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova commented on Brussels' plans, stating that Russia has no intention of adopting the EU's baseless policy of 'burning bridges' between people but reserves the right to retaliate.

Presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov noted that if the EU imposes restrictions on the issuance of visas to Russians, their citizens will also face discomfort when crossing the border. He described this as another round of 'reckless Russophobia.'
