Abu Zayd, One of the Leaders of ISIS, Arrested in Turkey: Erdogan
Turkey has discovered and arrested one of the leaders of the Islamic State terrorist organization. This announcement was made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
According to media reports, the individual in question is a terrorist named Abu Zayd. Earlier, it was announced that five senior members of the Islamic State (ISIS) had been arrested in Turkey, in a region near the Syrian border. This was reported by the country's Ministry of Interior on Wednesday.
According to the statement, among those arrested are individuals responsible for intelligence operations, social media activities, and preparing ISIS militants. They were apprehended on August 31 while attempting to cross the border between Turkey and Syria. One of the detainees confessed that they were planning to carry out attacks within Turkish territory.
The Ministry of Interior has stated that the information from these individuals led to the detention of six more people. During the operation, an AK-47 rifle and ammunition were seized.
