US Warns Citizens in Armenia

The United States has urged its citizens in Armenia to exercise caution. The diplomatic mission has issued another security alert for US citizens present in Armenia. In a security message published today on the US Embassy's website in Armenia, it is noted that Russian airlines continue to operate within the country.

The US Embassy informs American citizens that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has downgraded Russia’s aviation safety rating due to the fact that Russia’s civil aviation authority does not meet the safety standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for overseeing the operations of Russian air carriers.

It is also indicated that this FAA safety rating does not apply to Armenian carriers or aircraft owned or operated by Armenia.

Considering this, the diplomatic mission urges US citizens to explore travel options that do not involve Russian air carriers.
