International Arrest Warrant Canceled: 'Hraparak'
'Hraparak' newspaper reports: 'Recently, information spread in the press that the international arrest warrant against the son-in-law of Serzh Sargsyan, former Armenian ambassador to the Vatican Mikael Minasian, has been lifted, and he is now free to travel to any country.
Let us recall that criminal proceedings were initiated against him by the State Revenue Committee in 2020 on charges of illegal enrichment. Subsequently, an arrest warrant was issued, and since Russian authorities did not hand him over to Armenia, he remained in Russia but was unable to cross the border to any European country. Now, they say, the arrest warrant has been lifted.
Recently, Minasian also posted a photo on Instagram with his wife and children from behind the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. In response to our inquiry, the prosecution stated that the arrest warrant against Minasian has not been terminated. This means that the warrant has not been lifted in Armenia, but he is no longer under international arrest by Interpol. It indicates that if he returns to Armenia, he will be arrested; however, he can travel around the world.
According to our information, he has already traveled to Italy and is living in his home in Rome. From other sources, we learned that it is the Armenian authorities themselves who have canceled the international arrest warrant but do not want to officially announce it. Moreover, our source claims that the Armenian government has also received a 'ransom' from Mikael Minasian in exchange for this move.'
