Taxi Fare Increase of 100 Dram Fee, Deputy Minister Says

Taxi services are a licensed activity, and can be licensed by individuals, individual entrepreneurs, and organizations. This was stated today, September 7, by Deputy Minister Armen Simonyan during a conversation with reporters in the National Assembly.

“We have transfers carried out through online platforms, and this sector is not regulated. In this regard, our ministry has developed a draft bill that gives a specific status to organizations conducting transfers through online platforms. They must become organizations subject to activity notification, pay a state fee, and the ministry also proposes that a state fee be charged for each transfer, placing that obligation on the online platforms themselves. According to the proposed bill, the amount of the state fee for each transfer is set at 100 dram. This is open for discussion and is not the final version,” he noted, adding that this will at least lead to an increase of 100 dram in taxi fares.
