No Chance for Recognition of Artsakh's Independence – It Has Been Self-Deception, Says Arsen Torosyan

Arsen Torosyan, a member of the Civil Contract faction in the National Assembly, noted in an interview with Factor TV that the status quo established after the 2020 war is fraught with dangers. He questioned, "Do we want to remain under the constant threat of killing, or should the conflict be resolved?"

For this goal, he sees a necessity to heal the wounds of the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples, who have gone through 30 years of wars and military clashes, instead of deepening animosity. "Azerbaijan was hit hard in the '94 war, suffering 25,000 casualties and 600,000 refugees. Are we the only victims? The wounds should be healed on both sides. It is a trap to urge continued animosity against Azerbaijanis. We should not inflame hatred," emphasized Torosyan.

As a member of the ruling party, Civil Contract, Arsen Torosyan believes that the state has failed in previous years to achieve recognition for Artsakh's independence. He argues that this idea has been a form of self-deception. "There is no chance for the recognition of Artsakh's independence, and there never has been," he stated.

According to Mr. Torosyan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his colleagues are working to ensure that there is no sudden explosion or landmine regarding the resolution of the Artsakh issue.
