Under What Conditions Will Gazprom Resume Gas Supplies via Nord Stream 1?
The Russian company Gazprom will not resume gas supplies via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline until the German side has repaired it, said the company's Deputy CEO Vitaly Markelov today.
However, the German side insists that Gazprom has not issued any instructions related to repairs on the pipeline. Siemens Energy, Gazprom's partner, counters that the type of issue announced by the Russian company can be easily resolved and does not typically lead to a suspension of supplies.
Gazprom had halted gas supplies to Germany through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline on August 31, citing necessary technical maintenance. The Nord Stream 1 is the largest gas pipeline from Russia to Europe, stretching from Vyborg near the Finnish border to Lubmin in northeastern Germany.
