Police Determine Cause of Week-Long Fire in Ijevan: Who is Responsible?
The Police of Armenia has established how a fire broke out in the grassy area adjacent to the "Wine Factory" in Ijevan. This information was reported by the press service of the Police of Armenia.
It is noted that the grassy area began to burn on August 31. The alarm was received on the same day at 13:30.
“As a result of measures taken by the Ijevan police, it was determined on September 5 that on August 31, around 09:00, a 73-year-old resident of Yerevan Street had burned wood in a container used for charcoal production in his backyard, which led to a fire that spread to the nearby forest. The 73-year-old man attempted to extinguish the ignited fire but was unable, after which he called the 911 service,” the statement said.
Approximately 12 hectares of land were burned. The compiled materials have been sent to the Tavush Regional Investigative Department.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations had reported today that three out of four directions of the raging fire, which has lasted for a week, have been extinguished, while the fourth direction still has three smoldering hotspots.
