Lavrov Comments on Truss's Election as Britain's Prime Minister
The new Prime Minister of Great Britain, Liz Truss, will not help strengthen the country's positions in the international arena, declared Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Truss was elected as the leader of the Conservative Party of Great Britain last Monday and will officially become the prime minister on Tuesday.
“She has her principles, which primarily relate to her unwavering stance on protecting Britain's interests, without seeking to take into account the positions of others, and with a strong desire to avoid any compromises. I do not think this will help maintain or strengthen the country’s positions in the international landscape, which have clearly been shaken after leaving the EU,” Lavrov stated during a press conference.
