Yerevan Municipality Appeals to Police Over Illegal Tree Cutting at Pushkin-Ekmalyan Intersection

Responding to citizens and media reports regarding tree cutting at the Pushkin-Ekmalyan intersection in Yerevan, the Municipality of Yerevan has announced that, following the appropriate inspections, no permission (ticket) was issued by the Greenery and Environmental Protection Department, confirming the action was illegal. This was stated by Levon Sargsyan, head of the Municipality's information department.

“Based on the evidence available, the Municipality of Yerevan has decided to appeal to the Police, requesting the initiation of a criminal case,” he noted.

Earlier, it was reported that a tree located in front of building 49 on Pushkin Street was cut down. The alert was raised by a resident of the adjacent building, who recorded how unidentified individuals cut down the large tree within minutes and took it away. The resident also documented the tree cutters and their vehicle's license plate.
