Turkey Accuses Greece of Attempting to Intercept Its Aircraft
Greece has attempted to intercept a Turkish maritime patrol aircraft conducting operations as part of NATO initiatives. This was reported by Anadolu, citing sources from the national defense ministry.
A spokesperson for the agency stated that Greece has "sharply increased its aggressive behavior in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean." According to him, Ankara recorded 1,616 violations of its airspace and territorial waters by Athens last year, while in the first eight months of this year, there have already been 1,123 instances, with 14 occurrences since August 15, according to Ankara.
The last such incident occurred on September 1 over the island of Rhodes, where Greece attempted to intercept the Turkish maritime patrol aircraft engaged in a NATO security mission in the Mediterranean Sea.
