Fines Ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 Dram for Non-Compliance: 'Hraparak'
'Hraparak' newspaper reports that amendments will be made to the Law of the Republic of Armenia on 'Waste Collection and Sanitary Cleaning'. The newspaper learned that substantial fines will be imposed for violations. Specifically, if the minimum requirements for the maintenance and operation of existing landfills are not met, the company operating the landfill will be fined between 100,000 and 200,000 drams.
In the case of explosive and flammable materials, medical establishments, slaughterhouses, and other types of biological waste, as well as when liquid gas is disposed of at a landfill without proper containers, individuals can be fined between 10,000 and 20,000 drams, while legal entities will face fines of 80,000 to 100,000 drams.
It should be noted that individuals will be fined between 5,000 and 10,000 drams, and legal entities will face fines of 20,000 to 30,000 drams for dumping medical waste, batteries, and accumulators into waste bins or containers designated for solid domestic waste, as well as for throwing burning, smoldering, or hot waste, snow, and ice.
Similar fines may also apply to individuals and legal entities whose disposed waste in landfills poses a threat to the life and health of those engaged in waste collection work. For the full article, see today's issue of 'Hraparak' newspaper.
