Video: 'They justified that we have no water; if we give it to you, it won’t be enough.' What residents of Artashat are saying

Residents of several villages in the Ararat province closed the Yerevan-Artashat road today, September 2, demanding the restoration of irrigation water supply. One protester told NEWS.am that there has been no irrigation water for three days.

“They justified that we have no water; if we give it to you, it won’t be enough. We were forced to block the highway. Now we have received irrigation water, but they might cut it off again; what do they care? We came to the water supply office, but there’s no one here. We have planted tomatoes; we can’t say ‘let’s not water them today, we will water them tomorrow.’ Tomatoes need to be watered every third day. In this heat, a person cannot withstand it, let alone the plants,” he said.

It is worth noting that the Yerevan-Artashat road has now been reopened.
