Details from Vedi about the Incident with Turks
According to the newspaper "Hraparak," on the night before last, several men speaking Turkish organized a feast with Armenian cognac at a station in the Vedi community of the Ararat region, drinking and throwing remarks at Armenians, drawing the attention of Vedi residents. Shortly thereafter, around 200-300 people gathered at the scene. The 'tourists' even attempted to display the Turkish flag, which outraged the gathered crowd and led to a scuffle.
One eyewitness reported that although police were present from the very beginning, they acted as passive observers, only intervening when a fight broke out. A man and a woman who spoke Turkish were taken into custody.
Later, the investigative department announced that the detainees were a married couple, Turkish citizens, and the circumstances of how they ended up in Vedi and what their intentions were are being clarified by law enforcement agencies.
