Syria Appeals to UN Regarding Israeli Strikes
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has appealed to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the UN Security Council, calling for condemnation of the Israeli strikes on Syrian territory. This was reported on Thursday by the Syrian state news agency SANA.
According to the statement, the Syrian side noted that the Israeli armed forces regularly strike civilian facilities in Syria, posing a threat to navigation and civil aviation, as well as endangering the lives of civilians. The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the UN to assess Israel's actions as a "deliberate and repeated violation of the sovereignty of a UN member state," which is a "direct threat to peace and security at both regional and international levels."
On Wednesday, as reported by SANA, the Israeli armed forces launched a missile strike on the international airport located in the outskirts of Aleppo, Syria. On the same day, Syrian air defense forces managed to repel an Israeli attack in the sky over Damascus province, intercepting several missiles. The shelling caused material damage, but there were no reported casualties or injuries.
