Russian Forces Destroy Ukrainian Paratroopers Attempting to Seize Nuclear Power Plant

Russian military forces have destroyed a landing unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, according to the Ministry of Defense, as reported by RIA Novosti.

“At approximately 07:00 Moscow time, units of the Russian Armed Forces thwarted an attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ tactical troops to land using two amphibious assault vessels abandoned near Nikopol, just a few kilometers from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in the village of Vodiane,” the ministry stated.

The military managed to destroy the vehicles of the Ukrainian forces.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are shelling Enerhodar despite a planned visit by the IAEA delegation to the Zaporizhzhia NPP. Over the past 24 hours, the city has experienced more than 60 attacks from Ukrainian drones and artillery. Three civilians were killed last night, and another was wounded. One of the shells exploded about a hundred meters from a kindergarten.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi expressed confidence upon his arrival in Zaporizhzhia that the mission can be carried out safely.
