Putin Disregards the West with One Maneuver: What Bloomberg Reports

Russian President Vladimir Putin has challenged the West by inviting Chinese and Indian military forces to the "Vostok-2022" exercises, reports Bloomberg.

“In this way, he is countering the efforts of the U.S. and its allies to isolate Moscow due to the Ukraine conflict,” the publication states.

The article notes that India has not taken sides in the Ukrainian crisis despite pressure from the West. According to the authors, this is due to the close partnership between Moscow and New Delhi.

“Even when the U.S. brought India in as a defense partner and urged it not to undermine international sanctions against Russia due to the Ukrainian conflict, the New Delhi government sent a military contingent to the exercises,” the journalists write.

The "Vostok-2022" strategic exercises will be held from September 1 to 7 at seven sites in the Eastern Military District, involving more than 50,000 personnel, over 5,000 units of weaponry and military technology, including 140 aircraft and 60 warships, which will participate and support the operations.

The Russian Armed Forces will showcase their air defense troops and control command bodies, airborne forces, long-range and military transport aviation units. Joint operations will be developed by the operational control groups of the CSTO, SCO, and other partner countries, military contingents, and observers, including Azerbaijan, Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Laos, Mongolia, Nicaragua, Syria, and Tajikistan.
