Mikael Arzumanyan's Lawyer Comments on the Charges
The former commander of the Defense Army of Artsakh and chief advisor to the President of Artsakh, Mikael Arzumanyan's lawyer, Yerem Sargsyan, has made a post on Facebook discussing today's statement released by the Investigative Committee, which mentioned that Arzumanyan allegedly gave the command to retreat after the capture of the 'Arega' heights.
Below is the post:
'I have already stated that since attributing negligence to Mikael Arzumanyan did not yield the expected results regarding the feeding of specific masses, now they will also attribute intent to him, so that later they can start their manipulative interviews and distribute their "slices." The process has begun. Now they are also accusing him that supposedly the Armenian army recaptured the 'Arega' heights by fighting, but Mikael Arzumanyan came and commanded that this height be abandoned and retreated, after which the enemy reoccupied it. I even find it excessive to address this absurdity.
However, I will highlight a section of the phrasing of the accusation, which states that Mikael Arzumanyan, not being either their direct or indirect commander, allegedly ordered the personnel to leave the liberated 'Arega' heights. In fact, since Mikael Arzumanyan was not the commander of the Defense Army of Artsakh at that time and had no authority to issue such an order to the personnel, he did not give it, and that personnel had no right to obey a command from a military officer who was not their superior.
A question arises: if Mikael Arzumanyan, having no authority, gave such an order, then why did the personnel obey this order and why did they not report this to their commanding officers according to protocol and receive orders from them? I believe everything has been said with this. Tomorrow, it is also possible that they will accuse him of being responsible for the start of the war.'
