«Two Liquidations, He Didn't Study»: Lecturer on MP Vahagn Aleksanyan

The newspaper "Joghvor” reports that, the day before, "Hraparak" wrote that one of the MPs from the "Civil Contract" faction, Vahagn Aleksanyan, was admitted to the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University in 2019, majoring in Law, specializing in "Constitutional Law, Theory of State and Law" for a master's program, and has not graduated.

In the letter of expulsion from the university, we read: "Considering the academic debts (12 or more academic credits) accrued during the summer examination period of the 2019-2020 academic year and not eliminated within the deadline established by the university, as well as the current academic debts during the winter examination period of the 2020-2021 academic year, I instruct to expel Vahagn Hovik Aleksanyan from the second-year master's program of the paid system of "Constitutional Law, Theory of State and Law".

On this occasion, the "Joghvor" newspaper spoke with Arthur Ghambaryan, the head of the Department of Theory of State and Law and Constitutional Law at the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University, Doctor of Law, Professor, and Honored Lawyer of RA, who was also a lecturer for MP Aleksanyan.

– Mr. Ghambaryan, do you remember your student Vahagn Aleksanyan? What kind of student was he?

– To be honest, I remember him, but it was a long time ago. I taught him the Basics of Law, which is more of a systemic subject, and those who come to the master's program in law without a basic education must take this subject. He took the exam several times, and as far as I remember, he did not succeed, but it is not that he was incapable.

– Mr. Ghambaryan, can we say that he generally lacked basic knowledge and that’s why he could not pass the exams and stayed out of the university?

– I cannot say this about all subjects, but specifically regarding my subject, he did not have it. I believe he did not allocate time to study because he had analytical skills but lacked knowledge; he didn’t read and didn’t like to work.

– How long did you teach Vahagn Aleksanyan?

– I believe it was for one semester, and he did not pass my exam. As far as I remember, it was a written exam, but I cannot comment on the other subjects. The Russian-Armenian University gives students the opportunity to sit for one more exam and to submit two liquidations; however, in his case, he did not succeed in either.
