New Route for Berdzor Corridor to Launch Soon: Khanuynan Provides Timelines and Details
The new route for the Berdzor corridor is set to be operational during the first week of September this year, according to Hayk Khanuynan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Artsakh, speaking to Armenpress.
“Until then, the Stepanakert-Berdzor-Goris highway will be in operation. The alternative route will function in the new corridor heading south. Traffic on the new road will commence after the deployment of Russian peacekeeping forces at all checkpoints. During this time, a temporary 4.5-kilometer section will be ready, part of which has already been paved and will be completed in the coming days. It is expected that traffic will already be organized along the new road during the first week of September,” Khanuynan stated.
According to him, the temporary section of the new route bypasses Berdzor, Agavnono, and Nerkin Sus, then connects to the Agavnono-Tegh road approximately 3 kilometers from Agavnono.
Hayk Khanuynan also added that the process of relocating infrastructure continues. “The communication issue has already been resolved. More time will be needed for the relocation of electrical lines, while alternative solutions must be sought for gas supply,” he said.
