Three Dangerous Issues Are Visible on the Agenda of Upcoming Negotiations: Abrahamyan
Recent signals from Turkey, Azerbaijan, and the head of the ruling force in Armenia indicate that the processes surrounding Armenia-Azerbaijan, Armenia-Turkey, and Artsakh have entered an extremely dangerous phase. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the Armenian National Assembly from the "I Have Honor" faction, on his Facebook page.
"From the agenda of the upcoming meetings/negotiations, at least three dangerous questions are visible: the so-called 'Zangezur Corridor,' the demilitarization of Artsakh, and the issue of the 'Lachin Corridor.' The topic of the 'Zangezur Corridor' has long left the agendas of Armenia-Turkey and Armenia-Azerbaijan and is being discussed in the context of the larger region.
As for the demand for the demilitarization of Artsakh, the first step has already been taken by the Armenian authorities, having stopped the recruitment to Artsakh since 2021 and having withdrawn military personnel registered in Armenia from Artsakh in early August 2022.
However, the requirement from Azerbaijan is to completely disband the Artsakh Defense Army, as well as other militarized structures. Regarding the 'Lachin Corridor,' Azerbaijan is trying to establish that the new route is a road and not a corridor, which will lead to new security issues.
Does the Armenian government have the resources, opportunities, or will to prevent or mitigate the new threats approaching us? Definitely not. Does Armenia have a way to exit the complicated geopolitical situation with minimal losses? Definitely yes, but the first prerequisite is the immediate removal of this government. Without the implementation of this prerequisite, we will continue to record new disasters, new losses, and new defeats," he wrote.
