By the End of the Day, the Remaining 5-6 People Will Also Leave Berdzor: Mayor
The majority of the population in the town of Berdzor, located in the Kashatagh region of the Republic of Artsakh, has left the town. Apart from the administration, including the mayor, head of the management, and staff, about 5-6 residents still remain. Berdzor Mayor Narek Aleksanyan stated this to 24News.
He noted that the remaining 5-6 individuals will leave the town by the end of the day, as will the leadership team by the end of the day or tomorrow.
According to him, the Azerbaijani representatives have yet to arrive in the town, and new checkpoints have not been established; the Russian peacekeepers are continuing to remain in their locations. “The corridor continues to operate just as it did a month ago; Russian peacekeepers are at the checkpoint,” he said.
Azerbaijan has demanded that the Armenian population leave the town by August 25, including those from the neighboring villages of Nerk’in Sus and Aghavno. This demand from Azerbaijan is linked to the completion of construction on its segment of the new alternative road for the Lachin corridor connecting Armenia to Artsakh.
