Malls and Shopping Centers Are High-Risk Facilities, Says Emergency Situations Minister
The Minister of Emergency Situations has stated that malls and shopping centers are high-risk facilities. Armen Pambukhchyan made this remark during an online press conference, responding to a question about whether additional inspections are being conducted in such facilities following the tragedy at the 'Surmalu' shopping center, according to News.am.
He noted that the Ministry has plans for various incident scenarios. However, other questions will be answered by regulatory bodies.
When asked about the future of the 'Surmalu' shopping center's building, the minister responded that the columns are quite sturdy, but the walls have "shifted" from the columns. Therefore, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations' assessment, it is not advisable to continue using the building, and it should be dismantled.
